Nice to meet Hue.
Hue Creative was established in 2016, following my return from Australia to Waipu, Northland. With city skills and agency experience - it was time to take a leap of faith and deliver quality design, print and graphic communication to the West Coast of Kaipara, the Far North, Whangarei, and beyond.
Having earned a Diploma in Graphic Communication from AUT and gaining 18 years of experience in graphic design, printing, branding and community engagement - Hue Creative was born from my passion for using content to inspire design in the dynamic world of visual communication.
About Emma
From the age of 9, when I first designed a logo for my future business, to creating 'Enizagam' with a best friend at 11 (that's magazine spelled backwards!), I have always been motivated to communicate effectively, with an underlying interest in design.
I completed my final years of high school in Sydney with integrated Design Studies at Bradfield College, then furthered my skills with a Certificate in Computer Graphic Design and a Diploma in Graphic Communication from Auckland University of Technology.
My career began as a Mac Operator at one of New Zealand’s few large letterpress print businesses. There, I mastered the art of colour separations, trapping, print imposition, and every aspect of self-adhesive label production, working on projects for local and international clients across food, wine, beverage, health food, and cosmetic sectors.
Seeking new challenges, I moved to Perth, Western Australia, where I worked as a Graphic Designer for a large-format printing company, handling artwork for massive billboards, signs, and flags. My journey then took me to Mackay, North Queensland, where I served as a Sales and Design Director for a printing and sign business before transitioning to a design consultant role for a building company, focusing on client design selections, particularly interior colour selections.
Family life brought us back to New Zealand, where I took on the role of Senior Designer at an agency in the Far North, focusing on strategic communication, web design, and marketing for the non-profit sector. When that agency relocated to Auckland, I saw an opportunity to go out on my own, and in 2016, Hue Creative was born.
Since then location has been no barrier, and no job has been too big or small. I have worked with clients from Kerikeri, Kaitaia, and Mangonui in the Far North, to Dargaville, Maungaturoto, Mangawhai, Waipu, Warkworth, Auckland, and even in the Beehive! I also have a few clients in Christchurch, Southland, and Australia.
I hope you have enjoyed reading about my journey, and I hope you jump on board to be a part of it too!
